TEMPO.CO, Makassar - Toraja International Festival (TIF) to be held in North Toraja District, South Sulawesi Province on July 20-22, 2017 is expected to attract at least 30,000 visitors.

"Last year this event attracted about 15 thousand visitors," TIF Director Franki Raden said here, Wednesday.

TIF 2017, he added, will be more special than ever with a variety of traditional art and cultures of Toraja.

The Toraja is an ethnic group indigenous to a mountainous region of South Sulawesi.

"Among the programs are art shows of Manganda, Madandan, Manimbong, Pagelu, Karombi, Maranding, and Toraja Choir," he explained.

In addition, he said, TIF 2017 will feature foreign participants such as Samulnori from South Korea, Helga Sedli from Hungary, Flamenco from Spain, Sky Drum from Japan, Aboriginal Singer from Taiwan, and DJ Kamau from USA.

In this fifth year, Franki said, TIF will be more complete with the addition of two new events, namely, the Ethnic Fashion Show that feature a number of famous national fashion designers works, and culinary festivals that will serve typical food from all over the world.
