TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism Agency of West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province, with the help of Swiss Contack, conducted surveyed tourists on their favourite tourism destinateion place in NTT. Here are the five best tourism places selected by tourists, quoted from Travelounge Magazine:
1. Komodo Island
Komodo Island is composed of three main islands: Komodo Island, Rinca Island, and Padar Island, which when combined reaches a width of 1,817 square kilometers. During your tracking in rainforests and your exploration on gigantic mountains, you can meet horses, wild boars, various types of monkeys, wild buffaloes, deers, and other animals. Komodo Island is also home to rich ocean treasures: beautiful corals and a crystal-clean blue ocean.
Professional divers are confident that the Komodo waters is one of the best diving sites in the world. If you go west from the Island, you can sunbathe on the beach, which is known as the pink beach because it is blanketed by pink particles of sand.
2. Labuan Bajo
The moment you set foot on the capital of West Manggarai regency, you will meet a growing young town. Pede Beach, which lies on the shoreline of the town's beach, is the favorite recreation object of locals on weekends. The beach hosts the Sail Komodo peak of event.
3. Batu Cermin Cave
The stone cave resting east of Komodo Airport holds natural caves with alluring stalactites that continue to grow. When the sky is clear, sunlight will enter from the hole atop of the cave, bounce to the stone walls, which will then reflect the sun ray to other areas in the cave like a mirror. In the cave, visitors can discover black spiders, bats, and sometimes small snakes.
4. Cunca Rami Waterfall
You will have to drive or rent a 4WD car if you want to reach the natural tourism place located in the Mbelling forest area, since the car will have to pass through bumpy hill paths with sharp turns, climbs, and junctions.
As soon as you arrive, you can soak your face and body with the water, or swim if you can endure the cold water.
5. Liang Ndara Cul Village
The village is located in the Sano Nggoang sub-district, that lies 20 kilometers from Labuan Bajo town. You will need 45 minutes to depart from Labuan Bajo to this village.
Liang Ndara village is the entrance to the Mbelling forest area that keeps a rich and beautiful variety of flora and fauna. The village is popular for caci, a traditional dance of the Manggarai locals. Caci showcases an agility contest between two adult men who whip and fend their opponent off in turns.
