ADB Disburses US$85 Million for SMEs

Agus Tjahajana Wirakusumah, Director-General of Small and Medium-Sized Manufacturing and Trading Companies at the Indonesian Ministry of Trade and Industry, told reporters on Thursday afternoon (21/08) that the loans granted would amount to US$85 million.
Each business will receive a loan up to a maximum of US$600,000, Agus said after a press conference on the SME development strategies and policies held in Jakarta on Thursday afternoon (21/08).
According to him, the SME loans will have lower interest rates than loans provided by commercial banks.
The loans will be assigned by Bank Export Indonesian through Bank BNI Bank, Mandiri Bank and Bank Danamon to businesses that carry out export and supporting product activities.
In addition to the ADB loans, Agus said that the government would also provide loans to the SMEs that have maximum turnovers of around Rp500 million.
These loans will be assigned through Peoples Credit Banks (BPR) and would certainly also have lower interest rates.
